Con undertook the daunting task of refurbishing the church. It was by now, badly in need of repair and decoration. The church building, as it stands today, is very beautiful. It is a tribute to him. But those who were privileged to know him, would say that the greatest tribute to Con was the genuine sorrow and heartache felt by parishioners when he died. They lost not only their parish priest but a good friend. He was an approachable man who liked company. He spoke to everyone and was not overly impressed by a person's status.

Parishioners recognised his devotion to Our Lady. He was however, a very practical man when it came to liturgy. His habit of giving a brief sermon at the beginning of the liturgy was much appreciated, especially when there was a game in Croke Park! A dedicated priest, he was also a man of good humour. In fact his ability to have fun was legendary. He enjoyed the banter and craic that are part and parcel of life in St. Nicholas of Myra. Con wished to be buried in the Church Crypt and parishioners were very pleased when his wish was granted. He will not be forgotten. His work and life here in Francis Street will always be appreciated. May he rest in peace. Con's Photos Family Acknowledgement
