Sr. Bernadette Brassil was born and grew up in Ballylongford, Co. Kerry.
She attended the local Primary School in Ballylongford and received her
Secondary education in Presentation Secondary School, Tuam and
Ballingarry, Co. Tipperary.
She entered Presentation Convent, Warrenmount in 1933, where she spent
most of her religious life, apart from six years at Presentation
Convent, Rockford manor, Blackrock, Co. Dublin.
Sr. Bernadette was involved in many ministries, particularly in teaching
Home Economics.
Due to failing health she spent the last three years of her life in
Presentation Nursing home, Kilcock, where she died on 16th June 2008
aged 94.
May she rest in Peace.
On Friday 07 November, Sr. Bernadette was among those remembered at the
Annual Mass of Remembrance here in St. Nicholas of Myra. A member of her
community lit a candle which bore her name. Like all the other candles
lit on that night it was left burning during the mass to remind us that
the Christian Community includes all those who have gone before us to
the Lord.
Before each candle was lit, the name of the person was called aloud. If
you would like to spend a moment or two in quiet prayer you'll find the
names of our recently deceased
here.
